Online sales on a rise as buyers settle into social-distancing as the norm

While pureplay ecommerce sites have seen a decline in revenue post Easter, the same can’t be said for some of the Aussie favourites that have had to shut their retail store doors over the last couple of months. As Australia settles into the new social distancing way-of-life and comes to the realisation that there’s still much more of this to come, sales for items such as sleepwear, activewear and kitchen appliances has seen a rapid rise.

One such example is Australian department store Myer that closed all its stores and stood down 10,000 workers in March and has since seen a significant increase in online sales, so much so that they’ve rehired 2000 of their staff to help with online orders.
